Each time a fibroblast divides, the telomeres—located on the ends of the chromosomes—are shortened, reducing their ability to further divide. When the telomeres reach a certain length, the cell’s ability to replicate stops and cell senescence begins. Senescent fibroblasts are cells that undergo major morphological and metabolic changes. The main consequences are a decrease in the quality and quantity of the extracellular matrix components, i.e. mainly collagen, elastin, fibronectin and GAGs, and an increase in proinflammatory cytokines. These changes have a clearly negative impact on the structure and function of the skin, causing it to age more quickly.

Telomerase is an enzyme that prevents telomeres from shortening during cell division.

Vitasource is a purified extract obtained from the roots of Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi standardized in baicalin. Daily stress, a hectic lifestyle, lack of sleep, poor eating habits and smoking are all factors that lead to signs of fatigue, which gradually and insidiously mark your face and, more generally, your skin. As you age, the 7 billion toxins produced every day at all levels of the skin are no longer eliminated naturally, and literally suffocate the cells. The regenerating ability of these cells—and more specifically the ability of stem cells, which are more vulnerable to toxins—is greatly reduced. The skin cannot properly regenerate. This anti-ageing compound suppresses the expression of certain matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs). In other words, it prevents collagen and elastin from breaking down, keeps cellular components and DNA from being attacked by free radicals, and reduces inflammation.

HYALURONIC ACID
